Somatic & Embodiment Therapy

sunshine at a seaside

Focalizing is a trauma-informed somatic therapy that combines therapeutic dialogue with embodied awareness, supporting you to notice what your body already knows when life feels uncertain, overwhelming or in transition.

The process is grounded in curiosity, kindness and compassionate presence, allowing space for deeper listening and something new to emerge.

Many people come to this work because talking hasn’t helped or because ways of revisiting the past have felt overwhelming or too much to hold.

Focalizing works with present-moment awareness rather than analysis and is led by your body’s pace rather than a technique applied to you. It supports change even when words are hard to find.

Your body is already communicating through sensation, emotion, image and subtle shifts. In this work, these are not distractions but places where attention can gently rest and be compassionately witnessed.

Who Focalizing is for

This work may be supportive if you are:

  • feeling stuck, overwhelmed or at a crossroads
  • moving through change: relationships, work, health, fertility, menopause, grief
  • living with stress, anxiety, trauma or long-held tension
  • sensing something wants to shift, but not knowing how
  • sensitive, intuitive or deeply embodied and needing space that honours that
seaside

How Focalizing sessions work

Sessions are primarily verbal and gently led by what is present.

We begin by gently naming an intention, not something to achieve but an area of life to be with or explore.

You’re invited to notice what is happening with curiosity and kindness.

I’m alongside you throughout with attentive, compassionate presence, supporting the process without directing it.

The process unfolds gradually, without pressure to rush or force change.

Often, something that has been held, tension, emotion or unfinished experience may begin to shift or soften. This is where change can happen.

Sessions are available online and in person and typically last 60 minutes.

Background and influences

Focalizing sits within a wider field of somatic and experiential therapies, with roots in approaches such as Somatic Experiencing, Focusing and mindfulness.

In my practice, it is informed by my training in Embodiment Coaching (Mark Walsh, CEC) and shaped through many years of working with the body across movement, bodywork and somatic traditions.

You can find out more about Focalizing through the Focalizing Institute.

More on Embodiment Coaching (CEC) can be found through Embodiment Unlimited.
